Wait a sec? YES! Deploy to Windows Azure Web Sites in just a sec!

Back in January we showed the world how easy it is to deploy to Windows Azure from Cloud9.

Today we have an important update:

Microsoft has just unleashed an awesome new platform called Windows Azure Web Sites.
Why awesome? Windows Azure Web Sites offers a serious speed boost, and we baked it right into Cloud9 IDE! Read on to take a look at the details.

How fast you talkin’, Willis?

Until now, deployment to Windows Azure took 8 to 10 minutes.

Starting today, deployments to Windows Azure take just a few seconds.

Azure Websites perfectly suits the developer who wants to see their Node.js application come to life quickly. Debug and iterate your app on c9.io, then push it to Windows Azure Web Sites where your app has an audience.

This was all made possible by Cloud9 leveraging the awesome cross-platform command-line tooling Microsoft worked hard on for the last few months. Check out their cross-platform CLI tooling here.

Cloud9 introduced this integration during the exclusive ‘MEET Windows Azure’ event organized by Microsoft on June 7 in San Francisco. Check out your projects on c9.io and see for yourself how fast it is!

Are you able to use MongoDB with plain Windows Azure website hosting?

  5. Chevex says:

I wish this were true. It just took me 10 minutes to deploy my app to Azure.

@Chevex We have two options for deploying two Azure. Be sure you’re deploying to Windows Azure Web Sites – that’s the superfast one. And if you’re on the Cloud9 beta the situation is a bit different. Come meet me in #cloud9ide on irc.freenode.net or e-mail us (support@c9.io) to get more help

      • Chevex says:

@matt_pardee I am in the beta. I created a web site on the preview version of Azure. What do I need to do to make C9 beta see it?

I have tried to do an Azure deploy using a node.js workspace, but it seems to be failing. I do not get an error message or progress bar, only the message that it should be finished within a minute.

The Heroku option doesn’t work either. Is there any update. I have a premium account.
